When one of Europe’s largest beverage manufacturers was ready to take a novel beverage to market, a short-term manufacturing trial was set up to exclusively manage this product. With a completely new beverage recipe delivered in a unique bottle design, this product required a different water quality standard to other products made in the factory. Since this product was only in test stages, investment in a permanent water treatment system would carry significant financial risk. Small batch runs and very specific water requirements made rental of a reverse osmosis containerised water treatment plant the most cost-effective and low-risk option.
The solution: reverse osmosis containerised water treatment plant
To minimise the risk of investing significant CapEx in a new installation, we installed a mobile, pre-assembled, tested and calibrated reverse osmosis system outside the congested factory with OpEx budget.
A containerised water treatment plant system consisting of reverse osmosis technology was supplied to the site in mainland Europe and installed outside the factory so as not to add to an already congested manufacturing environment.
The mobile water treatment unit arrived pre-assembled, tested and calibrated to provide flow rates of up to 10m3/hr and included:
- Pre-filtration included to maintain integrity and performance of the high-quality, low-energy reverse osmosis membranes
- High-quality, low energy reverse osmosis membranes
- Sterile cartridge housing to meet hygienic conditions
- Post permeate storage to meet demands on-site
- UV sterilisation system to treat water before supply into the manufacturing environment
“This launch was an exciting opportunity for us to carve out a brand-new market for a niche product in a low-risk environment. By installing a temporary water treatment plant that delivered very high standards, we were able to run the new product alongside our current lines and test every element of its production.”
