The Envirogen range of self-cleaning strainers and screen filters are a highly flexible, versatile, and economical solution for the filtration of liquids, including those with high viscosity. Our filters provide an effective solution for those requiring continuous filtration without interruption to the flow during the cleaning process. High quality stainless steel elements are highly effective in removing contaminant particles as small as 25μm.
Easy to install, common applications include the protection of sensitive downstream equipment from suspended solids. The filter eliminates the need for replacement cartridges by using a backwash system which can be controlled either fully automatically, semi-automatically, hydraulically, motorised, or manually, depending on the model.
Self-clean filtration systems deliver high output and efficiency, along with consistent quality that is supported by our PureCare range of flexible service and maintenance packages.
Envirogen offer self-cleaning strainers and filters in a range of types:
- Scraper filters for high-viscosity liquid filtration
- Automatic filter and hydraulic filter screens for industrial and irrigation protection; plus
- Disk filters and disk filtration systems

Features and benefits of self-cleaning strainers and filters:
- Provide strong protection to downstream equipment – extend the life, performance and efficiency of downstream filter bags, cartridges and other equipment.
- Effective filtration method for virtually any fluid – including those with high viscosity.
- Minimised product loss – during system cleaning.
- Increased quality output – minimum reduction to product flow.
- Reduced contamination – enclosed design means less possibility of accidents or operator exposure to fluid.
- Safe for hazardous or sensitive applications – an enclosed design ensures no operator contact with process liquid during cleaning operation.
- Environment friendly – enclosed system with minimal flushing losses.
- High efficiency, energy saving and low water consumption.
Scraper filters for high-viscosity liquid filtration
Our range of scraper self-cleaning strainers are an excellent choice for filtering high viscosity liquids. These scrapers allow for efficient removal of impurities on the surface of filter screen through mechanical scraping, whereby the filter screen is cleaned automatically by time/differential pressure.
Standard scraper and high pressure scrapers
- Standard pressure model – working pressure up to 35 bar at 50°C
- High pressure and temperature model – working pressure up to 13.8 bar at 50°C
- Range of drive options – fully automatic, motorised or manual
- Compact and robust with plastic or stainless steel scraper
- Designed for containment of pressure (PED) and explosive atmospheres (ATEX)
- Working temperature up to 260°C depending on gasket
- Filter elements perforated 60 to 1,000µm
- Filter element wedge wire 25 to 3,000µm
- Filter element can be supplied as perforated ConiPerf
Typical applications:
- Petrochemicals and petrochemistry
- Micella (mix of oil and hexane)
- Chocolate, honey, pastes
- Paints and resin for paint production, printing, inks, solvents and glue
- Recycling water, wash water and cooling lines
- Water for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)

Automatic self-cleaning filter screens for industrial and irrigation protection
Our self-cleaning screen filters are designed for filtration of liquids with solid particles and colloidal materials. Strong suction nozzles ensure the complete cleaning of the screen with minimum water consumption and without stopping the filtration process. Our automatic filters and hydraulic filters can be supplied in different configurations depending on the position of your in/out connections for quick and simple system integration and without the need for foundations.
When the filtration process starts, the feed flows through the inlet and coarse filter to the inner filter screen surface. Impurities are collected continuously on the inner screen surface, and this increases the differential pressure between inner and outer screen. When the differential pressure meets a pre-set value (up to a maximum 0.5 bar, depending on application, debris, and pressure) the pressure switch (PDS) sends a signal to the controller/PLC to start the back flush cycle, which opens the drainage valve to let the sewage out without interrupting the main flow.
Self-cleaning filter screen systems can be supplied with options for explosion proof (ATEX) specification requirements.
